District Court Judge Rashad Hauter, First Yemeni American Judge to Keynote the YACC Annual Dinner, Friday, October 29, 2021 in Dearborn:
[Dearborn, Michigan, October 25, 2021]: The Yemeni American Chamber of Commerce (YAA) in Michigan is proud to announce that the Honorable Rashad Hauter, District Judge of Wake County, North Carolina, will be its Keynote Speaker at its Annual Dinner and Awards that will be held on Friday, October 29, 20201 at 6:00 p.m. at Dearborn Tree Manor in Dearborn, Michigan.

At the young age of 35, Judge Hauter is the first Yemeni American Judge to be appointed and serve on the judicial bench in the United States. He won the appointment Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina on January 2021. Judge Hauter is a first generation Yemeni American. He grew up working at his family’s small business in Vance County where he later graduated valedictorian from Southern Vance High School.

Judge Hauter graduated from University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts and earned his Juris Doctor from Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law.

Judge Hauter’s work history includes criminal defense and immigration attorney in private practice. He also served as the Regional Traffic Safety Resource prosecutor for the North Carolina Conference of District Attorneys and as an Assistant District Attorney in the Wake County District Attorney’s Office.

YACC, the Yemeni American Community and the Arab American Community at large in Michigan welcome Judge Hauter to Dearborn. Judge Hauter serves as a role-model for the young Yemeni Americans and is a role model for Yemeni Americans who want to pursue a legal education.

The YACC Dinner & Awards is expected to host elected officials, community and business leaders and members of the bench.
